Why a proper brief saves you money
The single biggest cost overrun on any web project is scope-creep from a vague brief. Designers quote to what they can see; anything they can't see, they either pad the price for or find out mid-build.
A written brief flips that. You've thought about the pages, the audience, the goals, and the budget before anyone quotes. Quotes come back tighter, projects run faster, and you avoid the 'oh, we also need a blog' conversation in week three.

How to use it
Print or open the template. Fill in as much as you know. Leave blanks where you're genuinely unsure — that's useful information too.
Send it to the 2–3 designers/studios you're getting quotes from. Everyone quoting on the same information means you can actually compare apples with apples.

What to expect in return
A serious quote should come back inside 3 working days, itemised, with a proposed timeline. If a quote is a single number with no breakdown, that's a red flag — you don't know what you're paying for or what happens if scope changes.
Any good designer will also come back with clarifying questions. If a quote arrives with zero questions, that's the second red flag — they either haven't read the brief or they don't care.
